Intro

Although I'm not studying acting as part of my university degree (because I could only choose three sub-majors!) acting is also something I enjoy.
I've completed several short acting courses including a Certificate 1 course with The Actor's College of Theatre & TV in Sydney, and a drama subject at Southbank TAFE as part of my Cert. IV in Adult Tertiary Preparation.

I've been performing in community theatre groups and musical societies since I was three years old, and although it didn't involve much feature acting, I worked as a movie extra in the films Mission Impossible 2 and Moulin Rouge.

Motivations

I grew up either doing musical theatre in local productions or living with family members who were performing in them, so I had the acting bug from an early age. (I still remember being in Carrousel when I was three!)

After developing my acting skills through various short courses, I got my first “big break”(?) in the movies, when I was a movie extra in Mission Impossible 2 and Moulin Rouge.
In M.I.2 I spent most of the day in a park reading "Writing Science Fiction That Sells", and perving on actors like Tom Cruise walking past me take after take- and I got paid for it.
I also did some minor acting in Moulin Rouge, when I played a skanky whore trying to pick up men on a street corner. In one take the clapper was right in front of my face! Ahh! For more insider stories about me in Moulin Rouge click here.

Future Aspirations

Who knows? Is Mel destined for fame and fortune? Probably yes, but not necessarily through acting. As a hobby or part- time thing, acting is something I love doing. However, I have other career aspirations I am focusing on at present.
